Ewa Minge Couture FW 17
The Shangri-La palace was the venue for Ewa Minge’s fall-winter 2017/18 Couture collection. Inspired by the ancient gypsy fables, most of the looks transports us into an enchanted, joyful and dancing world. Multi-colored and multi-layered silhouettes, numerous details and accessories evoke the rich and singing world of this culture. Some of them appear on many garments embroideries and butterflies, created by the “students” of the Black Butterflies Foundation as part of the art-therapy.
Under the eye of the designer, women who fight against cancer have made “small works of art” from pearls. As they stated “These butterflies helped us to pass this difficult time during treatment and transported us to another wonderful world where everything is possible.” Art helps to keep the disease away. The resulting looks have, astonishingly a combative allure, women who seem never to surrender despite the adversities.
A remarkable issue in this fashion show was the presence of “Plus-Size” models. Probably a first time that this happens in a couture show, since Ewa Minge creates for all women and, according to her, “”beauty does not have sizes…”
